Working in Support of Education (W!se) recently announced that Richlands High School and Tazewell High School have earned the prestigious title of being Blue Star Schools for the 2023-2024 academic year. This distinction recognizes schools for their students’ exceptional performance on the W!se Financial Literacy Certification Test. "I'm very proud of our students and teachers for this recognition. Equipping our students with the skills to manage and understand their own finances is a tool that will benefit them for a lifetime," said Dr. Chris Stacy, Superintendent of Tazewell County County Public Schools.

The Blue Star School award is given to schools where a significant portion of students demonstrate proficiency in personal finance by achieving high passing rates on the certification test. The test is administered as part of W!se’s award-winning Financial Literacy Certification program. Schools enrolled in the program teach a course or unit on personal finance using instructional resources from W!se, including a curriculum outline aligned to national and state standards, and then administer the test. Since its introduction, the program has become integral to personal finance instruction in thousands of classrooms across the United States and is offered in 49 states.

“We are thrilled to recognize these exceptional Blue Star Schools for their commitment to financial literacy,” said David Anderson, President and CEO, W!se. “To view the full list, click here: Blue Star Schools
